Equipment shortages, drawn-out labor negotiations and rail delays are backing up shipments at Los Angeles ports where as much as 20 percent of the country’s imports arrive.
The delays threaten retailers’ profits during a season that generates about a fifth of annual sales. Plus, there looks to be fewer items for Santa to spread under the tree.
